Meet Ryanne

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I’m Ryanne J. Peterson: wife, mother, daughter, friend, sister, and healer!

My goal is to eliminate stigmas and debunk myths surrounding mental health in black and brown communities. Over the last 7 years, I have worked as a counselor with students and families in the Durham community to do just that. I am also the Founder and Executive Director of a Durham-based non-profit organization, MastHERpiece focused on training today’s teens to be tomorrow’s queens by helping them redefine the word success. We shape and mold girls and the women in their lives to take control over their mental health and wellness through modeling and exposure.

I really want to normalize getting and keeping our mental health in check.

I’m determined to help women and families break toxic cycles that have held them back from achieving true happiness and freedom! Let’s work together.

Meet Keturah

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate

OIC_Kenturah.jpeg

I am Keturah L. Davis: daughter, aunt, sister, friend, and a passionate clinician.

My goal is to empower women and adolescents of various ethnicities to work through trauma associated with intimate partner violence. Over the last few years, I have gained experience in various mental health settings such as psychosocial rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, and intensive in-home services. Throughout my experience, I developed a passion for serving survivors of intimate partner violence due to an observed increase in women’s need for resources and support. As a clinician, I empower women and adolescents to build self-esteem, safety plan, and identify healthy ways of coping with challenges of daily life.

I believe everyone deserves a safe-space to unpack their feelings and values to work towards living a healthy-balanced life. If you would like to feel empowered to begin your healing journey, let’s collaborate!

Meet Qua'Shawn

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate

I am Qua’Shawn J. Pernell: Godfather, fur-father, son, brother, uncle, mentor, and a heartfelt listener.

The greatest asset I have to offer my clients is the desire to assist them to become the best version of themselves. Over my career, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings ranging from working with formerly incarcerated individuals, consulting individuals experiencing homelessness, conducting in-home counseling services with children and families, and serving individuals in a hospital/doctor’s office setting. You may be seeking counseling for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges,  assistance with navigating family and relationship conflicts, or possibly dealing with stress, depression, and anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-awareness.

I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment where we can work towards achieving everlasting change. My passion is to assist adolescents and young adults with strategies that can be utilized to perform at their highest capacity in all areas of their life. With

our work together it is my wish, hope, and dream that you have a better sense of self, confidence in your capabilities, and the ability to navigate your way through what we call “life”.

Meet Cynia

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am Cynia R. Black: daughter, sister, friend, and spirited clinical therapist.

My goal is to support families of adolescents and black, indigenous, and people of color through life's difficult moments. Over the last 5 years, I have gained most of my experience working in the intensive in-home and outpatient mental health setting as a Family Consultant with youth ages birth to 12 years old, and a Family Therapist with families of youth ages 10 to 17 years old. With this work, I  have developed a strong passion for working alongside young adults on a very integral part of their journey- transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. I have observed that oftentimes adolescents have been perceived by society as being "difficult"  and "incapable" of change rather than seeing them as people who are trying to adapt to a transition in which they feel like they have no control.

As a therapist, I am committed to empowering and supporting my clients by increasing resiliency, and positive well being, and helping to develop sustainable coping strategies. I am looking forward to doing this work and continuing this journey together with you!
